Will You Dance With Me?

Can you see them dancing
slender bodies, swaying in the breeze?
They are not the same
each unique in size, shape and color
but they dance in perfect unison,
a dance choreographed
by the Maker of the wind.

Will you dance with me?
We are not the same;
each of us unique - fashioned according to His plan.
But we can dance in unison
if we will move to the gentle
breath of His Spirit-
following the steps of Him
who prayed we would be one.

" I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in Me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as You and I are one - as You are in Me, Father, and I am in You. And may they be in us so that the world will believe You sent Me. I have given them the glory You gave Me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and You are in Me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that You sent Me and that You love them as much as You love Me." John 17:20-23
I am linking to Emily's imperfect prose today. Thank you Em!

  1. Linda, that's beautiful. I love the image of the body as the grass swaying together with His breath. And it occurs to me that one of those slender bodies, dancing with all its might, has never trampled another.

  2. Oh, how you make me think, Linda! Your words... beautiful! The picture you painted... perfect. Thank you, once again~

    Have a wonderful day :)

  3. This is so sweet and beautiful, Linda.
Actually brought tears to my eyes.
    Take care~

  4. Wow, this is such a great metaphor! I've written it down so I don't forget :)

  5. i love to dance...and every sunday as we sing i dance, just between myself and him...and on days like today when the sun is shining my heart is dancing...

  6. how i love dancing with you sister. i am tearing up at this longing to be in unity... and my hope for heaven, with its huge dance hall... love you. e.

  7. Linda this is both beautiful and inspiring!

  8. my church women's bible study is going over the trinity in a semester long study of the idea of fellowship and unity--being known. this dance is SO it. and right where my heart is. i'm tired of being alone, and want to be known, and dance--w/ others and w/ him most of all. love love love this.

  9. I can here the grass as the wind blows through it. Such a beautiful post and pictures.

  10. I am always thrilled to witness the creation of another metaphor since I teach metapors in my poetry unit. Similes my kids get, but metaphors: not so much.
I like the sense of sisterhood coming from this post--community--uniqueness and room for all that uniqueness.
A blessing: that's what this post was to me.

  11. I've been thinking of this,
of the difference , of the dance.
    beautiful , Linda.
