"Home Sweet Texas Home"

We are home! Actually, we arrived home late saturday night. I am just trying to get myself "reorganized".

We had a wonderful time. It was our first visit to California, so it was all new and exciting. I kept sending up silent prayers of thanks for the blessing of being able to experience such beauty. The ocean....oh how I love the ocean. It was just magnificent.

I took over 200 pictures. Don't fret....I promise I will absolutely not post all of them. In reality they will be of no real interest to anyone but us - memories I wanted to bottle up and preserve.

Here are a few ... in no particular order (because I couldn't take the time to really sort through them all):

My husband, who thinks those signs that caution one about climbing on the rocks are just for decoration :-)

A nice young man took our picture in front of the "Lone Cypress" along the route to Big Sur.

We spent hours in the Monterey Aquarium. I took pictures until my battery died. It was all so miraculously amazing.

Along the route to Big Sur

I had to get my toes into that ocean. It was numbingly cold!

The view from the balcony of our hotel room. We could hear the waves breaking against the shore during the night - bliss.

Muir Woods and the giant red woods.

The trolley in San Francisco. Riding up and down those hills (especially down) is quite an experience.

The weather was gorgeous, the views was all I had dreamed it would be, but this Texas girl is glad to be back home. I love this particular little patch of earth. There's no place like home.

  1. Welcome home! I remember well my first trip to California and the first view of the Pacific. The last times there were so crowded, but there is still so much beauty. I had strep throat and was lying down in the kids' laps (seat back on them) when we went through the Redwoods - I was so absolutely miserable. Sad to miss that beauty.

I am so glad you got to do this and that you had such a great time.

  2. Oh! I can't get over that view from your hotel room! I wouldn't have been able to tear myself away!!! So glad you had a wonderful time =)

  3. I love the ocean too. I am pretty sure I have been to the same red woods. They are so amazing. Great pictures.

  4. Your pictures are stunning. Glad you had a great trip and glad you are home.

  5. The view from your balcony was absolutely amazing! But you are right! There is no place like home!

  6. What wonderful pictures. So glad you were able to go away and enjoy your time.

  7. welcome back, linda. what a handsome couple you are! you know, often times i experience my homecoming to be one of the best parts of my sojourns.

    did the book arrive?

    it really is beautiful.

  8. I'm so glad your trip was all you had hoped it would be. I hope it refreshed you both! And, I know what you mean about there being no place like home...Dorothy spoke for many didn't she!

  9. I'm so glad you are home and that you had a wonderful trip. I've never been to California either so your pictures are exciting for me. It is such a blessing to have you share them and tell us all about your adventures and of course... the biggest blessing- HOME SWEET HOME!

  10. Oh, you took us all with you!
    With your words and pictures....
    Thank you, friend!

    Isn't God so, so good?
    Such a world, this!

    I send much love....

  11. Oh my, Linda. What a wonderful trip. Your photos of the ocean make me want to pack up and go to California tomorrow. I haven't been to California for more than 30 years. The view from the balcony of your room is wonderful.

    Lucky, lucky you.

  12. How beautiful. I long to see the redwoods.
