"O The Deep Deep Love of Jesus"
"O the deep, deep love of Jesus! Vast, unmeasured, boundless free;
rolling as a mighty ocean in its fullness over me.
Underneath me, all around me, is the current of Thy love;
Leading onward, leading homeward, to Thy glorious rest above.
O the deep, deep love of Jesus! Spread His praise from shore to shore;
how He loveth, ever loveth, changeth never, nevermore;
how He watches o'er His loved ones, died to call them all His own;
how for them He intercedeth, watcheth o'er them from the throne.
O the deep, deep love of Jesus! Love of ev'ry love the best:
'Tis an ocean vast of blessing, 'tis a haven sweet of rest.
O the deep, deep love of Jesus! 'Tis a heav'n of heav'ns to me;
and it lifts me up to glory, for it lifts me up to Thee."
Samuel Trevor Francis 1834-1925
Samuel Frances was born in London, the son of a merchant and artist. As an adult he was a member of Plymouth Brethren Congregation and an open air preacher.
As we focus our hearts on the precious gift given to us in the form of a little baby boy, this hymn reminds me of the great love that compelled Jesus to leave heaven and all that encompassed, to come to earth to redeem a lost and dying people. The enormity of the sacrifice takes my breath away.
"In this is love, not that we have loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins."
I John 4:10
Blessings,
Linda

Thanks for posting Trevor Francis's great hymn. A powerful expression of the love of God, it deserves to be better known, and more often used than it is.
