Time

I have this one moment
this fragile, translucent
piece of time.
I am not promised more
just this one
tick of the clock

May I spend it wisely Lord,
hold it close
and see the treasure
deep within;
whether of joy or pain
wealth or poverty,
see the gift
from Your hands.

May I not spend it
rushing ahead in thought
to all that must be done
to all that I fear may come;
or looking back
to all that I regret
to all I wish to hold.

Give me eyes
to see in this moment
all that Your eyes see.
Engrave it on my heart
with all that You intend
that I might grow
in wisdom and grace.

Well said, as usual. I especially like "May I not spend it rushing ahead in thought to all that must be done to all that I fear may come;
or looking back to all that I regret to all I wish to hold."

Oh how often I am found guilty of not using my time as I should. Of abusing the gift that He has given me.

Thank you for this lovely reminder and encouragement to, once again, bring it into the focus and purpose for which it has been given.

Oh, Linda, what a precious poem. Thank you so much for sharing it with us today. I think that time is something we all take for granted and something we should guard wisely.

Have a blessed evening,
Laura

this "piece of time"

I picture holding it in my hands and turning it over. And you doing the same. And we are laughing together. And it is good.

It sounds easy but it's not.
We'll try ,
together.
It's the only way really.

The words are flowing now, Linda! This could be my plea--you reached down and touched my inner yearning and put it into words. Beautiful.
Thank you.

Very beautiful.. and your lines in the end made me feel it more lovely...
'Give me eyes
to see in this moment
all that Your eyes see.'
