As For Me

I see them sleeping
when You needed their prayers.
Would my head nod too
had I been there?

I see them running
when they took You away.
Would my heart be racing, legs pumping
abandoning You too?

I hear him denying, with curses,
when he pledged to stand with You.
Would I say I didn't know You
when the darkness threatened?

How often, Lord Jesus,
do I sleep when I should pray,
run when I should stand,
hurt You with my words?

Now, as then,
You search my heart with eyes of love,
Speak words of forgiveness,
Give Your life that I may live.

a repost: our week is filled with choir rehersals and services thurs - sun, anticipating great and mighty things as we celebrate Jesus

  1. I wonder sometimes too, what I might have done had I been amongst those who walked with Him. I suspect that I'd have been no different.

  2. I can see that your creative talents have not diminshed, dear friend, in the time I've been away! Here's another beautiful piece-- another glimpse into your heart... another clear application to my very own... another testimony of His great love for us and your servant heart, seeking His own. What an inspiration! What a wonderful gift! Thank you, dear Linda, as always, for pointing my eyes to Jesus! May you have a lovely rest -of-the-week as we prepare to celebrate our risen King!!

  3. A poem! What joy.

    Even as it expresses pain.

  4. How many more ways can I say it - gifted, beautiful writing!

  5. Sadly, I am sure I'd have been just like them.

  6. "you search my heart with eyes of love" ... how thankful that He sees us this way

  7. I feel ashamed when I think of how I would have acted especially after the prayer he asked of His Father in John 17:20-21. Your writings are wonderful.

  8. Beautifully written, Linda. It pierces my heart to think about that.

  9. playful and beautiful...
