The Twins (Five Minute Friday)

Five Minute Friday

Joy

start:

Conversation ceased and every eye was riveted to the entrance. Everyone said it wasn't really a party until the twins arrived. Happy and Joy stepped into the room and suddenly the atmosphere changed.

It isn't quite accurate to say both of the girls had this unique ability. Happy, with her bubbly personality and contagious laugh, was the one who charmed the crowd. Joy took a seat next to the punch bowl as everyone gravitated toward her sister. And so it had always been.

However on this night, something happened that would make this particular party different from all the others. Disaster stepped into the room, announcing, in his overbearing voice, that something bad had happened. An accident - someone much loved suddenly gone.

They all turned to Happy, but she had nothing to say. She crumbled in a heap, inconsolable and unable to do anything for those who looked to her for help. Confusion and grief reigned until Joy stood up and walked to the center of the room.

She extended arms of love and compassion. She stood strong and steady. One by one they moved toward her - leaving Happy and embracing Joy.

The timing could not be more powerful for me, Linda. I'm on my way to a gathering of people to remember a dear, dear young man who died tragically a year ago. God has given us deep joy despite the grief and loss and pain; happiness can't offer that. No one was happy, but many of us have experienced supernatural joy.

I'm so glad this ministered to you Ann. There is a touch of the miraculous in joy. Praying your time together is filled with joy.
