I cannot hold
the future in my hands
and craft it to meet
the needs of those I love.
I was not made for this Lord:
I cannot turn
sorrow into joy
or carry the burdens
on these frail shoulders.
I was not made for this Lord:
I cannot change
circumstances or hearts
or make dreams
come true.
I was made for this:
to find peace
and rest in You
to trust You to
work together all things
for my good
I was made for this:
to seek You
with all my heart
to love You and others
as myself
to be wholly Yours.
