A Change of Season

It's funny. You can be waiting patiently, or impatiently as the case may be, for something to happen, and then when it does you are totally taken by surprise. You push the rising panic down, breathe deeply and whisper a prayer for peace. Then you get busy.

We've been waiting for a long time for an apartment to become available at the Assisted Living place where my parents were on a waiting list. A few days ago, while I was browsing through the racks at the music store my cell phone rang. The nice lady on the other end of the line told me an apartment was available for Mom and Dad - now!

It has taken us all a little by surprise - especially my aging parents. But we're taking the necessary steps and moving toward getting them in as quickly as possible.

Sixty-eight years of memories are packed into their home. It will all need to be sorted and distributed and reduced to fit into an approximately 400 square foot apartment. Then the house will have to be sold. Lots to do.

In the end, we are so thankful. This is truly an answer to prayers long prayed. Our family will breathe a collective sigh of relief knowing Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa are in a safe, comfortable place.

I'll be taking yet another break. I'm not sure how long I'll be gone - not long I hope. We've planned a moving day for next Thursday. Once they're settled into their new home, we'll slowly work through the other things.

It is a season of change. Change is never easy, but He has been, and continues to be, our strength and peace.

Love y'all,
Linda
