With Us

No one could be blamed for thinking these past several months the worst anyone has ever experienced. We know, of course, there have been many more difficult times in the history of civilization. Consider the time around 500 BC.

Syrian armies had surrounded the city of Samaria. Conditions had become so desperate the people were reduced to eating their own children. It looked absolutely hopeless.

Enter the prophet Elisha who prophesied that in twenty-four hours everything would change and there would be an abundance of food. You can find the story in II Kings 6 -7. In a completely unimaginable turn of events, using the most unlikely people the Lord fulfilled the word He had given to Elisha.

God has not changed. The power and truth of His word continue to this day. His promises never fail. No matter the circumstances He will take care of us and accomplish His purposes.

We have an enemy who knows this only too well. So he comes against us with the weapons he has used since he challenged Eve in the Garden of Eden:

Doubt

Discouragement

Diversion

Defeat

Delay

He hasn’t had to come up with anything new since these work so well - if we will allow it.

God has given us the freedom to choose. We can allow doubt or discouragement or any of the weapons satan wields against us to blind us to the truth or we can choose to trust God.

Just as He saw the people living in a besieged city in desperate need of help, He sees each one of us. He knows our situation and has promised to be with us. He may not work things out in exactly the way we think He should or according to our timetable, but He will work for our good in and through our circumstances.

“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

Blessings,
