Puffed Up With Pride and a Special Link

"Of all the marvelous works of God, perhaps the one angels view with the most supreme astonishment is a proud man."
Charles Caleb Colton

As I looked out our bedroom window the other day I found myself a silent witness to a confrontation between a hummingbird and a lizard. The lizard was on the porch railing and the hummingbird hovered just a few inches out of his reach.

I watched in fascination as the lizard pranced around on his little legs and puffed out his "chest". The hummingbird quickly lost interest in such ridiculous antics and flew away like a little rocket. The lizard, however, was not to be put off so easily. He continued prancing down the porch rail, stopping every few inches to puff himself up with importance.

I thought then what a perfect picture of "puffed up pride" he was - not that I ever act that way myself you understand :-)

One of the sweetest bloggers I know is doing something special for a little girl in need at her blog. Please take a moment to visit Iris. Thank you so much.

Blessings,

Oh why do I so often find myself like that crazy, prideful lizard?

Thank you for this wonderful illustration of God's creation speaking to us.

What a neat illustration, Linda! I've never been puffed up myself, you understand. *Almost strangled typing that, lol! ;o)*

I love lizards, always have. And Emmy's fascinated with the rubber kind. No telling what she'll do when meets her first real, live lizard. ;o)

Happy 4th, my friend.

Love and hugs,

Diane

I always find it so fascinating that you have lizards running around over there...here, the only place we see them are in pet stores! lol Look at that one all puffed up!! I guess we humans do tend to "puff up" every once in a while! lol xoxo

Ah - being puffed up - me? LOL...Although we have lizzards all over the place, I have never seen one being all puffed up - very cool shot, my sweet friend.

Thank you for the link to the silent auction.

Love the word picture of 'puffed up pride'. Next time I start to feel that coming on I will tell myself I am acting like a lizard (o:

Linda...just got your comment to my post on prayer. Thank you for sharing your heart there. I'm so sorry for the tragedy your daughter and her friend are experiencing. I will be praying for them.

You are right...it is so hard when we don't understand. My daughters are starting to ask some of the "How can God let... Why does God allow...Why won't He stop..." questions. I still ask them myself. It's easier to say I don't know and explain that He is good, He knows what we cannot, etc. But when you're in the thick of it, you just have to throw yourself into His lap, weeping, helpless. He knows what to do from there. But...even trusting Him enough to run there is hard, isn't it?

I am so thankful for a God who knows our doubts, our struggles and still pursues anyway.

I will be praying for you all.
