Joy Challenge - Day 36 - The Source of Joy

I must learn to carry a pen and small notebook with me wherever I go, for my memory is just not what it used to be. Last evening, in our church service, our Music Minister extraordinaire, Ray, said something so profound about joy. It touched my heart like a laser beam. I was standing in the choir loft, and I kept repeating it over and over again fearful I wouldn't remember it perfectly (wishing fervently that I had the fore mentioned pen and notebook). I'm not sure I have it word for word, but this is the best I can do (with apologies to Ray for any mistakes).

"Happiness comes from our circumstances; joy comes from Jesus."

I can be in the midst of circumstances that would bring me anything but happiness, but if I have Jesus, I can still have joy.

Blessings,
Linda

  1. Amen. So true. I'm with you on the pad and pen thing - I often, when I'm exercising, think of a great way to express something in a post, and then can't bring it back to mind when it's time!

  3. Yes... I agree! In that inner stillness...where we meet and 'stay' with God...
I think that's where that special Joy resides.

Linda...I know what you mean about remembering. It's not our age it's the multiple things we're do every day!

I always seem to leave our Sunday service guide (where I wrote my notes) in various places around the house...and never gathered them into a binder as I kept saying I would do.
For the last few months now, I've been taking a journal with me. It's filled with my messy notes... (writing fast as the pastor speaks...sometimes writing down song lyrics)...but I always know where it is.

(except for this morning! We were late because I couldn't for the life of me remember where it was...
It was in the car, waiting for me ;o)

    Have a wonderful week~ Maria

  5. What a beautiful reminder this morning! I've just begun thinking about making a journal to take with me to service. I too write notes in the Sunday service guide and then leave them all around!
