He promises:
When you call,
I will answer.
From the depths
of the heart
Come words unspoken.
Waiting with hope,
wavering between
doubt and faith.
The answer comes
And I am speechless
with surprise.
Why surprise
when He has promised?
Why speechless
when a look back
reveals His faithfulness?
My heart pours out
gratitude and praise
to the One whose
word never fails.
Blessings,
Linda

Yes ... it's the surprise that takes us by surprise because He is so very faithful.
ReplyDeleteoh, i have experienced these very same emotions, faith, doubting, back to faith....god is so very faithful, we just can't even grasp it at times!

Linda, I always love your writing...and your blog posts. Learning about a hymn and a hymn writer is exciting and something I would probably not research on my own...so I enjoy it. It was nice to catch up here. (o:

A very beautiful and truthful poem, Linda.
ReplyDeleteIf I may I'd love to copy it into one of
my notebook journals to read again and
again. Thank you for such a lovely reminder
of His faithfulness even when I am not.
And the tulips are gorgeous.
Love,
Sandy
Dear Linda,
ReplyDeleteI have often uttered these words..."Why am I so surprised?" God's word tells us of His faithfulness, His forgiveness, His miracles, His love...and yet when I see it sometimes...it takes me totally by surprise. Perhaps because it is so amazing...we just can't comprehend the awesomeness of It.
Have a blessed day,
Laura
Always surprised. Every. Single. Time.
ReplyDeleteBut you know, the surprise brings a certain delight that I might miss if I thought I always knew just how He might choose to respond. And I tend to think He delights in our delighted surprise as well.
Yes, to this poem, Linda!
ReplyDeleteYes! He leaves us speechless
{"Speechless" --I love that song by Steven Curtis Chapman!}
Looking back, we should remember His faithfulness ♥ Thank you for this gentle reminder~
Blessings to you, Linda! *Maria
ps. Jason did get the job in Austin!
We're trying to find him an apartment now... He will start in the middle of April. I think he'll be in an extended stay until he gets settled.
So many changes!
{How hot will it get in July? ;o)
Beautiful poem. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I want to thank you for your sweet words over at Susan Etole's site regarding my 2 year old nephew's death.
So many people praying truly does lift the burden.
That "wavering between doubt and hope..." verse fits my feelings tonight. Thank you for ministering to me by reminding me that His word never fails.
