Coming to His Table

I come to His table.
Fear and awe
accompany me in my latter years;
awareness of His sacrifice
and my depravity
etched into face
and heart.
Gratitude and love
are companions
that bend the knee
and cause the tears
to fall.

For this season,
season of remembering,
I long to give a token
of my gratitude
and understanding.
My best offering
is so small;
His so great.
He bends down
to lift me up,
and I reach out
and give Him my gift.

I am learning slowly about Lent, longing to give my love and gratitude in some tangible way.

  2. I recognize that table too :). So beautiful, my friend. It reminds me of Leland's song, Carried to the Table. Have you heard it? It's lovely.

  3. And I remember being at that table with you all. And, one day, we will be again!

  4. I know that table! I've been there, too! Next time, we must all go together.

    I'm learning about Lent, too. I went to my very first Ash Wednesday service this week. I tagged along with Michelle at her church. It was so beautiful, I had to hold myself back from weeping. I'm looking forward to hearing more about what you learn during this season.
