Drought
The drought was so severe last summer our little birdbath was transformed into the local watering hole. We prayed for rain - fervently prayed for rain.
It came in the winter months - days of life-giving, liquid blessing. We stood transfixed watching it pour from the heavens. We gave thanks. The drought was over. Ponds, rivers, lakes began to recover. It was pure joy to ride by ranches where tanks that had been reduced to mud holes by the drought overflowed with water. We had great hopes that this summer would be different.
They led the local news with the story today. We are officially back in a drought. The temperatures have soared into the triple digit range - the sun blazing from a cloudless sky. We drop to our knees again. Praying for ourselves and others where fires are devastating the land.
It would seem that occasional seasons of rain will not due. We cannot get by on last month's rain. We must have a steady supply.
“And the Lord will continually guide you,
And satisfy your desire in scorched places,
And give strength to your bones;
And you will be like a watered garden,
And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail."
Isaiah 58:11
