Words of Comfort and Hope
I promised to write about my "epiphany." Then stuff happened. Within the past three days we've made two trips to the ER - one with my Mom (She's home and doing well.) and then yesterday with my Dad (They kept him overnight for observation, but all his tests came back okay.) Hopefully he will go home today.
I've got quite a bit of catching up to do around the house - so I'm going to put off that post for a few days. In the meantime, if - like me - you're feeling a bit discouraged about the way things are going these days might I recommend reading Isaiah 40. These spirit-filled words give so much comfort and hope. Here is just a little sample:
"God sits above the circle of the earth, the people below seem like grasshoppers to Him! He spreads out the heavens like a curtain and makes His tent from them. (v22)
He judges the great people of the world and brings them all to nothing. (v23)
They hardly get started, barely taking root, when He blows on them and they wither. The wind carries them off like chaff. (v24)
O Jacob, how can you say the Lord does not see your troubles? O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights? (v27)
Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of His understanding. (v28)
He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint." (v29-31)
May He comfort and encourage you today,
Linda
