The weeks leading up to Christmas filled my little girl heart with anticipation. Visions of brightly colored lights, tins filled with homemade Christmas cookies, carols and stories and gifts under the glittering tree. I fully believed in Santa, flying reindeer and a sleigh full of toys. My sweet mom read "The Night Before Christmas" so often I could recite it by heart when I was two (I can still recite it - most of it anyway).
I waited for Christmas with mounting excitement through seemingly endless weeks. When it finally came, all my dreams came true.
Many years have slipped by since that wide-eyed little girl sat under the tree surrounded by gifts and piles of torn wrapping paper. Now I want nothing more than to have a heart filled with that same anticipation as we enter the season of waiting; to have my heart filled with wonder at the miracle of His coming; to know that every dream has been fulfilled.
