T'is the season of waiting:
Zechariah waiting in silence
for the promised son;
a young girl waiting expectantly
for the Word to become flesh;
a star waiting
for the mighty to bow low;
a world waiting, groaning
beneath the weight of despair.
At just the right time
He came.
T'is the season of waiting:
for peace, when life is filled
with turmoil and worry;
for comfort, when sorrow
fills the heart;
for grace, when the worst
we feared comes calling;
for love, when we feel
so unlovely and unworthy.
At just the right time
He comes.

Blessings,
Linda

They wanted a messiah - their definition of a messiah. And they got a baby -- and God's definition of a messiah.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, dear Linda.
ReplyDelete"At just the right time ... He comes" ... sometimes the waiting is difficult.
ReplyDeleteVery lovely.
ReplyDeleteWe are still waiting... with hope.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem and I love the pictures I see in it. It is great how you shared singular examples of waiting and just slyly slipped the WORLD in there too. Great thinking going on there!
Linda, this is one of the most beautiful things you've written. Truly.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful, Linda. I love it. I will copy it in my quote journal, if I may.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question on my blog today: YES! I do love everything about this season!
Linda, this was beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLovely.
ReplyDeleteOne of the things our pastor used to remind of us was this: "He may not come when you want Him, but He's always right on time."
Amen...
At just the right time... isn't the the wonderful truth?! Beautiful words Linda!
ReplyDeleteI really like this :-)
ReplyDeleteSomething about the quiet in your words, Linda, that reminds me that I am not alone in my waiting. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love Advent... love this time of year. I have the most peace (even in the midst) I have had in years. I know its this new way God is showing me this year through grace, mercy and peace. I am so thankful you are in my life. You have blessed me so very much.
