Advent - Day 16

Jonah takes center stage on this 16th day of Advent.  He's the guy who tried to run from God and ended up spending three days and three nights in the belly of a whale. Ann weaves his story right into the Christmas Story - the story of a Baby who came to spend three days and three nights "…in the belly of death, so no one else would ever have to."

Our question to ponder today is:

"In what ways have you seen God calm the storms in your life?"

Like Jonah, I have run from God. Mostly it's during those storms - the ones that take you by surprise with a fierceness that knocks the wind right out of you - when I feel somehow abandoned by Him. Sometimes it's in those moments I'm in full-out rebellion.

In either case, I have discovered, in a long painful process that could have been so much easier if I had only stopped running long enough, all I need to do is trust Him.

Trust comes in remembering who He is and what He has done for me in the past. And with the trust comes peace. I know it sounds "pat." No one likes pat answers when they're hurting. But I don't have another one.

In the times of deepest sorrow and despair, trust Him. And the miracle is - you'll find peace.

Blessings,
Linda
